RADIO TWO:
LOOKING FOR SPACE ON EARTH
9 February 2024
…meanwhile, back on earth…
I wake up each day between wanting world peace and accepting this will most likely never happen. That doesn't mean I cant have peace when I look in the mirror and when I walk out the front door.
Alan Watts said, “The only zen you’ll find on mountaintops is the zen you bring up there with you.” I certainly won’t deny the benefits of being alone. However, if isolation is going to teach us anything about ourselves, it’s that who we are is interconnected with everything that is, has been, and will be. We are limitless and without form. We are beyond space and time. We are in everything and everything is in us. We are the bliss of the universe! As Ram Dass so precisely said, “Only that in you which is me can hear what I’m saying.” Experiencing this directly is a result of how much we accept what is.
With over 8 billion people on earth, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and confused, while looking to find our individualized identity and a place we can call home, where we are loved and accepted just as we are. That place is available here now when we go beyond how we think it ought to be into the wide open space of seeing it as it is now. Here in this space of infinite acceptance and love, we can find the strength to do just what we want without the influence of conditioning. Here in this space, we can let go of our past traumas and move fearlessly with integrity and intention, no matter what may be going on around us.
If we want to make sense of change we have to get to know it on a deeply personal level. The most direct to do this is to just plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance! After all, it’s going to be happening whether we dig it or not. There’s not much we can control other than how we react to and accept what is. Happiness is an inner experience that can directly impact how we interact with the world of which we are an integral part.
I’m not saying it’s always easy, but I am saying it’s always worth it! The whole universe is our home and all residing in it belong to our family. Instead of trying to see love in just one particular appearance, or a small select group, why not see love in everything?
Be brave, be bold, be love!
As always, thanks for listening, and have fun!
